Privacy Policy

This policy explains what this site collects, why, who else receives it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It applies to decorwithadream.com and nothing else.

Who we are

Decor With A Dream is a home decor publication. The site is edited by Eleanor Whitfield. You can reach us at any time through the contact page, which is also the address to use for any request under this policy.

What we collect, and why

  • Nothing, if you just read. You can read this entire site without giving us anything beyond the ordinary technical information every web server receives.
  • Your email address, if you subscribe. Stored with the date you subscribed, used only to send you the newsletter, and deleted when you unsubscribe.
  • Your message, if you write to us. Kept for as long as it is useful to answer follow-up questions, then deleted.
  • Comment details, if you comment. The comment, the name and email you supply, and your IP address. The IP address is standard WordPress behaviour and helps identify spam. Comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognised.
  • Technical and usage information. Pages viewed, approximate location at country level, referring site, device and browser type. This is aggregated and is not used to identify you.

Advertising

This site is supported by advertising. When advertising is running:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve adverts based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve adverts to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting google.com/settings/ads. You may also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks that we do not control may also serve adverts on this site and may use their own cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to measure the effectiveness of their advertising and to personalise it.
  • We do not have access to, and do not control, the cookies set by these third parties.

The cookie policy sets out exactly which categories of cookie are involved and how to control each one.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links. Following one may cause the retailer to set a cookie recording that you arrived from here, which is how any commission is attributed. We receive aggregate reporting of clicks and sales, never your identity or your order details. See the affiliate disclosure.

Analytics

We use web analytics to understand which articles are read. Analytics providers process usage data on our behalf and may set their own cookies. Reporting reaches us in aggregate.

Who else receives your data

Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its database. Our email provider, if you subscribe. Our analytics provider. Advertising and affiliate networks, as described above. Nobody else, and we do not sell personal data to anyone, ever.

How long we keep things

Newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe. Correspondence for as long as it is useful. Comments indefinitely unless you ask us to remove them. Analytics according to the provider’s retention setting.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, ask us to stop using it, or ask for a copy in a portable format. If you are in the UK or the EU these are rights under the UK GDPR and the GDPR respectively; if you are in California they are rights under the CCPA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. In practice we treat every request the same way regardless of where you are.

Write to us through the contact page and we will act on it. Every newsletter also carries a one-click unsubscribe link, which needs no explanation and no reply from us.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, tell us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS throughout. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise, but we take reasonable measures to protect what we hold.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the change will be noted on this page with the date it took effect. Continued use of the site after that date means you accept the revised policy.
