Rooms

Every room in a house has its own problem to solve. A living room has to look composed while absorbing daily mess; a bedroom has to feel calm without going cold; a kitchen has to work hard and still be worth photographing. The advice that helps is the advice written for that specific room, which is how this section is organised — by the space you are standing in, not by a style you are supposed to already know.

Start with the room you are actually working on. Inside each one you will find layout decisions, colour that holds up in that room’s particular light, storage that doesn’t announce itself, and the small changes worth making before the expensive ones. Every idea is tagged by style too, so if you already know you want Japandi or farmhouse, you can filter from there.
